Seth Kaplan comes
to Dean College from Fairfield CT, where he was the Associate Program
Director for The Team Connecticut Blue Jays AAU Organization, while
serving as the general manager for The Batting Cage located in Black Rock,
CT. Kaplan spent 1.5 years as a hitting instructor, while coordinating the
fielding for the youth level of The Blue Jays, and serving as the catching
instructor. Kaplan spent 8
seasons at Sacred Heart University, as an assistant coach and team's
recruiting coordinator while focusing his strategic efforts to working
with the team hitters
and defensively with the infielders and catchers.
While at Sacred Heart Kaplan, served as an Assistant Athletic Director for
Events and Operations for four years. In addition he also headed up the
Maintenance division, running the day to day service needs of the William
H Pitt Center, and managing several projects. He served as an assistant
coach with the Rhode Island Gulls in the New England Collegiate Baseball
League over the summer in 1999 where he was the first base coach and
hitting instructor prior to moving to Sacred Heart. Kaplan graduated from
the University of Massachusetts in 1999 where he was the starting
shortstop for two seasons and captained the Minutemen his senior year. In
addition to being the everyday shortstop, Kaplan doubled as UMass' back-up
catcher. His versatility enabled him to play six positions during his
college career and has given him a broad knowledge of every position on
the field.
Seth lives in
Medway with his wife Dawn and their son Ryne & daughter Haly.
